I am registered and insured, and I work with Ice Sports Industry (ISI) and World Figure Sport Society (WFS). I am available to teach the following, both individual and group lessons, for adults or children ready to learn how to train their own bodies:
- Awareness Through Movement / Skating Barre: we work in a dance studio to become aware of our body parts and how to control them; to build alignment, posture and positions useful for skating; and to prepare our bodies to work on blades on the ice. We build exercises that should be part of every skating artist’s daily warm-up, specializing in movement needed for skating technique.
- Ballet: I can teach all aspects of ballet at all levels. Although skating technique is more extensive and varied than ballet technique, portions of the ballet technique are useful for skaters.
- World Figure Sport Art of Skating Exams: First Steps, Pewter and Bronze Level. Work on the WFS curriculum, with its high technical standards, is central to any Skating Artist’s study and development. I can supervise virtual exams through World Figure Sport.
- Ice Dance: I can work with students on ice dance through the Preliminary and Bronze levels (or ISI Ice Dance 1-4). I can supervise virtual exams through ISI or World Figure Sport.
- Choreography & Performance: I can work with skating artists to build beautiful performance programs, either solo or group, using technique they have already mastered; and to rehearse those programs in preparation for performance. I am not able to construct or evaluate programs in relation to competition requirements.
